Dr. Barzel is actively involved in clinical research projects that advance knowledge of dialysis accesses. His scientific abstract, Tract dilatation to salvage failing buttonholes in dialysis fistulas, was exhibited at the SIR 2017 annual meeting and concludes that tract dilatation is a useful method to extend the life of failing buttonholes, those that could no longer be easily cannulated.
