Dr. Stanford R. Plavin is the medical director of Azura Anesthesia Partners. He has over 25 years of ASC and office-based anesthesia experience. In addition to his focus on the outpatient anesthesia experience, he has also served for two terms on the ASCA board. Dr. Plavin supports the strategic planning, recruiting, onboarding and ongoing clinical support of Azura Anesthesia Partners’ CRNA program. He has worked closely with many of the CRNAs and Azura physicians in developing and implementing a peripheral nerve block training module. He has had occasion to provide direct support to many of the sites within the Azura network including the Virginia, Florida, California, Nevada and Texas markets.
Dr. Plavin earned his medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine, in Burlington, Vermont, where he was awarded the Garcelon – Merit Scholarship, for his research in the department of pathology. He went on to complete his internship and residency in anesthesiology at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.
In addition to serving as Medical Director of Azura’s Anesthesia Partners, Dr. Plavin works closely with Azura’s Credentialing and Peer Review Physician Committees. His responsibilities include working with the Azura leadership to create a superior patient care experience. Dr. Plavin is board certified in anesthesiology and has co-authored several publications and has presented at a number of national meetings.
