At Azura Vascular Care White Marsh (formerly American Access Care of Baltimore), we specialize in dialysis access management. Medical director and board-certified interventional nephrologist, Dr. Eugene Essandoh, MD, and our highly trained clinical team take our commitment to excellence in vascular care as seriously as the conditions we treat. A port or PICC placement can help make these procedures more comfortable for you, especially if your treatment requires frequent access to the bloodstream for medication delivery or blood withdrawal.

Eugene Essandoh, Interventional Nephrologist, Medical Director

Eugene Essandoh, MD

Dr. Essandoh, MD, completed medical school at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York. He then completed an internal medicine internship and residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he remained as an associate faculty member of the Hospitalist/Internal Medicine Department after graduation for a year. He also completed subspecialty training in clinical nephrology at Columbia University Medical College in New York. Dr. Essandoh’s commitment to improving vascular access options for his dialysis patients led him to undergo training with Dean Preddie MD, an expert in dialysis vascular access care at American Access Care, Brooklyn NY.

Dr. Eugene Essandoh is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology. He is also a member of the American Society of Diagnostic and Interventional Nephrology and American Society of Nephrology. He specializes in interventional procedures, glomerular diseases, hypertension and critical care, as well as acute and chronic dialysis management. He previously served as Medical Director for Azura Vascular Care Capitol City for the past 8 years caring for patients in the Montgomery, AL area. Dr. Essandoh is the medical director of Azura Vascular Care White Marsh.

Dr Omar Karim

Omar Karim, MD

Dr. Omar Karim is a board-certified vascular surgeon with a special interest in all aspects of dialysis access, creation, and maintenance. He utilizes noninvasive imaging and minimally invasive interventional techniques for the treatment of vascular disease, providing critical care and maintenance to people with a dialysis access.

Dr. Karim received his medical degree from the University of Maryland, in Baltimore, Maryland. He completed an internship in general surgery at the University of California San Francisco – East Bay, Oakland, California, and residency in general surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School, in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Karim completed fellowships, clinical trials, and outcomes research in vascular surgery at John Hopkins University School of Medicine, in Baltimore, Maryland and Albert Einstein College of Medicine – Montefiore Medical Center, in Bronx, New York.

Dr. Karim treats patients at Azura Vascular Care White Marsh utilizing the most up-to-date, pain-free techniques to help patients improve their quality of life.
