Norbert Shtaynberg, DO, FASN FASDIN, is a board-certified interventional nephrologist specializing in the critical maintenance and management of vascular accesses for dialysis patients. In addition he carries certification in minimally invasive placement of peritoneal dialysis catheters. To ensure that a patient’s access remains fully functional, he performs minimally invasive endovascular treatments at American Access Care Physician, PLLC Brooklyn in Brooklyn, New York, where he is the Medical Director and has been actively practicing since 2011.
Dr. Shtaynberg received his medical degree from New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2006 with honors. He completed his internal medicine residency and nephrology fellowship at Staten Island University Hospital. He then went on to pursue training in interventional nephrology under the guidance of Gregg Miller, MD, a pioneer in vascular access. He performs the latest in minimally invasive treatments including angioplasty, stenting, fistula salvage, thrombectomy, thrombolysis, port placement, the MILLER procedure for steal syndrome and more. He actively engages in the training of other physicians in nephrology and interventional nephrology fields. He is committed to the success of his patients.
Dr. Shtaynberg co-authored numerous articles that have been published in peer-reviewed journals. He is an active member of the American Medical Association. Dr. Shtaynberg is a fellow of the American Society of Diagnostic and Interventional Nephrology, and the American Society of Nephrology. Dr. Shtaynberg is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology. He speaks English and Russian.
